To amend Section 401 of Chapter 4 of Title 4 of the Yap State Code, as relating to the salary of the Chief Justice, and for other purposes

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Yap.

Section 1

Section 401 of Chapter 4 of Title 4 of the Yap State Code, as relating to the salary of the Chief Justice, is hereby amended to read as follows:

“Section 401. Judiciary Salary.

(a) The annual salary for each justice and the Administrative Director of the State Court shall be as follows:

(1) Chief Justice … $40,000.00; (2) Associate Justices … $25,000.00; and (3) Administrative Director … $20,000.00.

(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, the annual salary of a justice with a law degree from an accredited law school and with a license to practice law in the State of Yap may be higher than those specified in subsection (a) provided however, that it does not exceed $50,000.00.”

Section 2

This Act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.
